Maintenance Worker (Motor Vehicle Operation)

As a Maintenance Worker (Motor Vehicle Operation), you will:
Perform elementary carpentry repairs on such tasks as replacing broken planks on picnic tables, repairing siding, reapplying/repairing molding, or installing shelving, signage or items like whiteboards. Drain and cleans pools and/or water features, replaces filters and cleans, adjusts or replaces simple sprinkler heads. Prepare surfaces for painting (i.e., masking, caulking, sanding, scraping, tripping). Remove damaged portions of walls or other similar architectural features in preparation for repair of damage. Under the direction of a higher graded worker, remove deteriorated roofing materials in preparation for reroofing, apply new wood, asphalt, or other materials as appropriate to roof structure. This is a Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectee are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The season for Death Valley National Park is expected to last 11.5 months, but can be variable during the season due to project requirements or weather conditions. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability To Perform The Duties Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-Out Element) Knowledge Of Equipment Assembly, Installation and Repair Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use Of Measuring Instruments Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials.
