Supervisory Visitor Use Specialist

Supervise staff collecting recreational facility and entrance fees in accordance with federal regulations. Responsible for visitor contact at a kiosk or information station as well as handling visitor complaints. Prepare employees performance standards, and developing IDP. Resolving complaints, grievances, counseling employees on conduct or performance. Operates an electronic cash register, performs opening and closing shift functions, issues entrance receipts, park passes and interagency passes. Troubleshoots accounting problems by correcting difficult errors that unsolvable by others which involve correction of related reports. Counting, reconcile and deposit collecting of entrance fees funds. Conduct cashier and revenue report audits for policy and regulatory compliance. Maintain deposit records, track and safeguard accountable stock and funds. Serves as front-line representative of the park. In many instances, the incumbent is the first and only contact the visiting public has with an NPS employee. Incumbent works at an entrance station, visitor center, campground or other visitor contact station. Provides public orientation and explanations of current park events, resource management projects, management policies and legislatives updates affecting the park area. Provide information to the public using information or materials on policies and legislative updates on issues. Train the public to preserve the area's natural, historical, and cultural resources (e.g., Leave No Trace). Communication in person, and/or over the phone to provide information to the public or other organization. Importance of rules or regulations concerning the protection of the area's resources, and the safety of visitors. Operate audiovisual and electronic equipment (e.g., film projectors, DVD players, computers, etc.) to provide area information to visitors. Operate fee collection computer software programs, or experience using software programs for the reconciliation and remittance of funds. Communicates using a radio. Operate computer software programs such as word processing, spreadsheet or data base. Shares new and important information with other co-workers. Deal with a high volume of personal contacts while maintaining a professional demeanor. Gathers information from reporting parties concerning accidents/incidents within the area to notify appropriate personnel. Performs emergency medical treatment appropriate for current level of training and responsibility. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/06/2020. Merit Promotion applicants who are in a current GS position or have held a GS position any time in the previous 52 weeks (one year) must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For this GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks (one year) at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. SF-50(s) that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application (e.g. Promotions, STEP Increases, etc.). No award or general adjustment SF-50 will be accepted for determination of time-in-grade. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either full-time (or 40 hours a week) or part-time with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. To qualify for this position at the GS-07grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors leading or supervising staff in the collection of recreational facility entrance fees which includes money handling, tracking and depositing monies; auditing fee collection and deposit procedures; hiring, supervising, scheduling and managing others involved in fee collection and visitor orientation programs and working with technology and software used in revenue and fee management. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate level education in one of the following fields:
accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, six months of specialized experience (50% of the experience requirements) and 27 semester hours or 41 quarter hours of graduate education as described above (50% of the education requirement). The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include hours per week worked and must include transcripts. -OR- Superior Academic Achievement:
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in one of the following fields:
accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management AND meet one of the Superior Academic Achievement provisions:
(1) Class Standing:
ranked in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as College of Liberal Arts or School of Business Administration, based on the completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average:
earn a grade-point average of (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B or better) as recorded on the transcript, or as computed based on four years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field, or the required courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum. Note:
grade-point averages will be rounded to the one decimal place, for example, 2.95 = 3.0, 2.94 = 2.9, and 3.45 = 3.5; OR (3) Membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society:

Experience:

Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
