Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

As a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor at Death Valley National Park, you will:
Provide direction and leadership to a subordinate staff in the accomplishment of daily work flow activities such as scheduled maintenance, preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs for buildings, facilities, associated equipment, grounds (including campgrounds), and structures (both historic and non-historic) Serve as field technical contact for planning and solving difficult and unusual problems associated with construction and maintenance operations, resource management issues, park safety and storm preparation Perform journey level work in trades such as Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Painting, Concrete, Masonry Inspect work progress and ensure compliance with instructions, plans, specifications, and state and Federal regulations Utilize a facility management software program to determine work to be performed and accomplish that work by delegating the appropriate workers Use computers and facility management software to document work order requests, time and material costs from written work orders onto computer spreadsheet data bases Prepare year-end reports documenting accomplishments in written narrative with graphs, charts, and digital images Participate in planning operations on a quarterly or longer basis to properly coordinate the overall use of personnel and the use of other resources such as equipment, facilities, materials, tools, etc Recommend changes to schedules, priorities, and work sequences as necessary and make minor deviations in procedures or redirect resources under their control to overcome problems such as equipment failure, material delays, or unplanned absences Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff members and all phases of maintenance operations on an annual and daily basis, in compliance with the annual performance standards Lead and train others in maintenance techniques In employing individuals to perform any construction, maintenance, interpretation, or other service in the park, the Secretary (Selecting Official) shall, in so far as practical, give first preference to qualified members of the Tribe:
(Timbisha Shoshone Homeland Act, Nov 2000). To receive current preference eligibility, members of the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe must submit a copy (not the original) of the letter certifying their tribal membership. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of equipment, structure, materials, etc. (includes constructing repair and forging) Technical practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Ability to interpret instructions, specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability to plan and organize work Ability to lead or supervise If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
