Laborer (Motor Vehicle Operator)

At Death Valley National Park, In employing individuals to perform any construction, maintenance, interpretation, or other service in the park, the Secretary (Selecting Official) shall, in so far as practical, give first preference to qualified members of the Tribe. (Timbisha Shoshone Homeland Act, Nov. 2000). To receive current preference eligibility, members of the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe must submit a copy of the letter certifying your tribal membership. As a Laborer (Motor Vehicle Operator), you will:
Perform laboring duties in support of road maintenance and preservation efforts preparing broken and eroding pavement on rural roads and/or parking areas for repair, and operate light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work sites. Load and unload supplies and materials and may perform flagging duties to direct traffic. Operate heavy power equipment and utilizes all types of hand and light power tools related to road and shoulder maintenance. These positions are a Team in support of the Pacific West Region Pavement Preservation Program anticipated to begin August 2019 through September 2021 performing asphalt maintenance repairs to park roads and paved parking areas which would include chip-sealing and micro-seals to extend the life expectancy of paved surfaces in Death Valley National Park, Grand Canyon - Parashant National Monument, Great Basin National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Manzanar National Historic Site and Mojave National Preserve. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
