Supervisory Interdisciplinary (Chief of Resources Management)

Provides planning, leadership, coordination and direction to a natural and cultural resources program including, but not limited to:
vegetation resources; wildlife management; water quality and fisheries resources; physiographic and geologic resources; archaeological resources; ethnographic resources; historic resources; historic structures and landscapes, museum operations, long term ecological monitoring program, and air quality. Supervises highly skilled supervisory, professional, technical, and administrative staff and develops individual performance plans, conducts performance evaluations, identifies performance issues and counsels employees to improve their performance. Develops and plans for a complex, multi-million dollar, multiple funding source budget for a resource management program. Prepares and coordinates the efforts of others in developing environmental assessments and environmental impact statements to proposed actions and anticipated environmental impacts relative to the National Environmental Policy Act. Prepares and coordinates the efforts of others in developing determinations of eligibility and evaluate effects to historic properties relative to the National Historic Preservation Act requirements. Plans, develops, and executes a complex compliance program including environmental impact analysis and Tribal consultation. Sets organizational strategy and direction for a resource management and compliance program. Plans, develops, and executes a complex natural and cultural resource management program including annual and long range planning and scientific research coordination. Establishes, maintains, and enhances working partnerships with members of the public, cooperating non-profit organizations, academia groups, and private businesses to address park and region level strategies and issues. Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with Tribes and Tribal interest groups. This Interdisciplinary position may be filled in any of the following series. Candidates must meet at least one of the Basic Requirements below and Specialized Experience Requirements. Basic Requirements for Historian, GS-0170 Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in history; or a related field, that included at least 18 semester hours in history. -OR- A combination of education and experience that included course work equivalent to a major in history or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination must demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work of the position and is comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a full four-year course of study with a major as described above. Basic Requirements for Anthropologist, GS-0190 Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in an appropriate field of anthropology. -OR- A combination of education and experience-courses equivalent to a major, or a combination of courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in an appropriate field of anthropology, or related course work, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Basic Requirements for Archaeologist, GS-0193 Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included 3 semester hours each in the following course areas:
History of archeology; Archeology of a major geographical area such as North America or Africa; Regional archeology, archeological cultures, or sites in a specific part or portion of a major geographical area to acquire or develop a foundation for regional specialization for professional development; Theory and methods of archeology. Methods include, but are not limited to, typology, classification, sampling, cultural evolution, diffusion, dating, and analytical techniques; Archeological field school, to provide a basic understanding of theoretical and practical approaches to research design implementation, field preservation techniques, and report preparation by participation in actual field work; AND, Six semester hours of related course work in:
geography, geology, or cultural geography; history, historiography, or historical archeology; environmental studies; scientific writing (nonfiction English composition); and/or surveying; AND, Archeological field school. -OR- Successfully completed related curriculum:
a bachelor's or higher degree in anthropology (with emphasis on ethnology, physical anthropology, or scientific linguistics), history, American studies, or a related discipline, provided the curriculum supplied academic course work sufficiently similar to the requirements above (including archeological field school). -OR- A combination of college-level education or training that provided knowledge equivalent to that described in A above, plus appropriate technical experience or additional education. -OR- 4 years of archeological work experience that demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional archeology. The work experience must have included archeology field experience, which may include that gained in an archeological field school. Field experience should have included a combination of professional experience in archeological survey, excavation, laboratory analysis, and preparation of written materials. Applicants with such field experience should, after additional experience under the direction of a higher grade archeologist, be able to demonstrate the ability to be a crew chief, directing the work of others at a single location as a part of a larger archeological project. Basic Requirements for Biologist, GS-0401 Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. -OR- A combination of education and experience that included course work equivalent to a major (i.e., 24 semester hours) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline closely related to biology; PLUS appropriate experience or additional course work. Basic Requirements for Landscape Architect, GS-0807 Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in landscape architecture or landscape design. -OR- A combination of education and experience that includes 1 year of experience for each year short of graduation, under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design. Basic Requirement for Architect, GS-0808 Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in architecture or a related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least 30 semester hours were in architectural design, AND 6 semester hours were in each of the following:
structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems. -OR- A combination of education and experience including college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, AND a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. Basic Education Requirement for Museum Curator, GS-1015 A full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field. -OR- A combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. -OR- 4 years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study as shown above. Basic Education Requirement for Physical Scientist, GS-1301-13 Successfully completed a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree with a major physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. -OR- A combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics, plus appropriate experience or additional education. - AND - At least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following:
1) developing project justification, scope and scheduling; 2) determining project funding and resource requirements; 3) creating and prioritizing short- and long-term goals; 4) managing contracted services; and 5) protecting and restoring natural resources ensuring environmental compliance. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
